John Clark Hutchins, 79, of Groton, Massachusetts, passed away on February 1, 2026. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Paul and Florence (Elms) Hutchins.
John earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and built a successful career in the technology industry, first working for Digital Equipment Corporation and later for Hewlett-Packard. After his retirement, John chose to remain active by working at H&R Block in Vermont, where he enjoyed helping others and staying connected with the community.
John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era.
John had a wide range of interests and was especially passionate about history and trains throughout his life. His love of trains led him to write a book on the local Suncook Valley and run a small side business focused on train-related items, a venture he truly enjoyed. For over 40 years, John was also an active member of the Congregational Church of Littleton, offering his time to many committees and deeply appreciating the friendships he made there.
He was an animal enthusiast with a particular fondness for golden retrievers. Notably, in his younger years, he also enjoyed horseback riding.
Known for his warm personality, John could start a conversation with anyone and make them feel like an old friend. His sense of humor, curiosity, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.
John is survived by his children, Amanda Avery and Joshua Hutchins, and his beloved grandchildren, Adrianna and Joseph. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
