John P. O'Brien Jr. "Obie" O'Brien, of Shirley, formerly of Littleton, died on November 16, 2014 at Healthcare Alliance Hospital in Leominster. He was born in Jamaica Plain, MA on December 3, 1949 son of Constance (Carpenter) O'Brien of Winchendon and the late John O'Brien Sr. John grew up in Littleton attended the Littleton School System and graduated from Newton Trade School. He worked in auto body repair most of his life including owning his own shop. John also worked at Shanklin Corp. in Ayer, ran the recycling center in Shirley, and was known as the "COO" at the Phoenix Bar and Grill in Shirley. Obie loved darts, fishing and playing golf at the Groton Country Club.

His survivors include his mother Connie O'Brien of Winchendon, a long time partner, Jamie Schweiger of Shirley, a daughter Jodi Corbett of Littleton, 2 sons Michael O'Brien of Littleton, and Eric Ledger of Florida. 2 brothers James O'Brien of Oregon, Daniel O'Brien of Winchendon 2 sisters Cathleen Taylor and Maureen O'Brien both of Winchendon and 10 grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Joseph O'Brien and Geraldine Britt

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton on December 3, 2014 from 3-7 pm.
