John Norman Shepple age 84 and longtime resident of Littleton passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29, 2024, surrounded by his four surviving children. He was blessed by hearing messages from so many loved ones during his hospital stay. He was the husband of the late Sue Ann (Sullivan) Shepple who died in 2016.
John was born on July 4, 1940, in Indianapolis Indiana, the son of the late Charles L. and Dorothy (Etcheson) Shepple.
He graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1958 and in 1962 married the girl next door Sue Ann Sullivan, the love of his life. They lived in Indianapolis Indiana before moving to Littleton Massachusetts in 1970.
John was an entrepreneur at heart and had many jobs during his lifetime. He worked at The Little America amusement park driving the train, worked at a radio station, was a Deputy Sherrif in Marion County Indiana, and worked for Sylvania in both Indiana and then when he was transferred to Massachusetts. He ran a local bike shop, Littleton Cycles, and formed HCE his own nurse call equipment manufacturer. He then worked various other part time jobs while being a full-time caretaker for his beloved wife Sue in her long battle with Parkinsons. In his younger married years, he enjoyed playing ice hockey and softball. During his spare time after retiring John enjoyed gardening, trains, model building, being a cheerleader for his grandchildren in all their various activities, cheering on the Red Sox and Celtics, coaching, refereeing, listening to REAL country music, big bands and jazz, and metal detecting. His favorite pastime in recent years has been volunteering at Westlawn Cemetery in Littleton.
He is survived by his children Debora Jo Shepple of Bath, New Hampshire; J. Kevin Shepple and his wife Lisa, of Bolton, Massachusetts; Theresa Michelle Chernosky and her husband Edwin, of Gaithersburg, Maryland; and Kristin Nicole Szpakowski and her husband David, of Wilbraham, Massachusetts; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Barry Harp of Grayson, Georgia.
John has joined his wife Sue and their daughter Stephanie Ann Shepple in heaven.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember John for his funeral mass on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 10:00 am at Blessed Trinity Parish – St. Anne Church, 75 King St., Littleton. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton.
John’s blue eyes, big grin, and warm hugs will be missed by everyone who knew him. His legacy will be carried out through all that he has touched with kindness, humility, and love of family. All will continue to remember him by taking pictures with our tongues out.
