Littleton
Joseph F. Rausa Jr. of Littleton, died at Emerson Hospital in Concord on September 26, 2016. He was born in Medford, MA on March 13, 1929, son of the late Joseph and Esther (Filadora) Rausa. He grew up in the Bronx, NY until he was 13 and then returned to MA, and lived in Hyde Park, MA, where he attended high school. Joe joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served in WW2. When he was discharged in 1948, he returned to school and graduated from Somerville High School. He married Marie Rizzo in 1951, and they made their home in Somerville, and then moved to Littleton in 1956.
Joe began his career as a truck driver with the Teamsters Local #25 and drove for over 40 years for various companies. He was a devoted father and husband, a member of F&F Sportsman’s Club, Member of the Littleton American Legion and the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks. Mr. Rausa was also a die-hard Red Sox and Patriots fan, as well as a 57-year member of the Golden Gloves of Lowell.
He is survived by his wife Marie (Rizzo) Rausa of Littleton, Father of Robert Rausa (Kathy) of Nashua, NH, David Rausa (Beth) of San Diego, Michael Rausa of Littleton, Paul Rausa (Becca) of Littleton, Diane Maurice of Washington DC and Janet Biggar of Chelmsford. Grandfather of Yasmin Lalani, Andrew Biggar, Joseph Rausa, Elizabeth Biggar, Anna Rausa, Robert Lalani, Jackson Rausa, Anthony Rausa and Gabriella Rausa. Visiting Hours will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St, Littleton, MA, on Sunday Oct 2, 2016, from 1-5 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Oct 3, at 9 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 75 King Street, Littleton. Please see www.badgerfuneral.com
