Karen Elizabeth (Hansen) Prescott

PRESCOTT, Karen Elizabeth (Hansen) of Ayer, MA, formerly of Westford, and Littleton, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Born January 2, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Carole (Morley) Hansen. She was predeceased by her loving husband Franklin in 2023. She was a 1977 graduate of Littleton High School, and received her BA at Worcester State University (1981). 

Throughout her life, Karen was a loving and dedicated teacher, recently retiring from the Westford Public Schools System. After her retirement, she continued to help out with the Garden Club at the Crisafulli Elementary School, the place she called her second home!

Karen enjoyed planting and caring for her gardens, tending to her chickens, following her favorite NASCAR drivers, vacationing at Lake Suncook, and always looked forward to annual family camping trips to NH and RI.

Karen is survived by and will be deeply missed by her two children, Katherine N. Dixon and her husband Chase, and their son, Carter of Kingston, NH, and her son, Andrew J. Prescott of Concord, NH; She is also survived by her siblings, Robert Hansen and his wife Patricia of Succasunna, NJ, Sandra Hill and her husband Daniel of Ayer, Lynne Dufresne and her husband Thomas of Worcester, and Kristine Galofaro and her husband James of Hull. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and their families, Kimberly Riker and Steven Day, Timothy Riker, Matthew Dufresne, Elizabeth Dufresne, Ashley and Christopher Austermann, and Brian Hill. She adored her four great nephews Cyrus, Oliver, Beckett and Brooks. 

The family would like to thank Karen’s many friends, and the wonderful caregivers at Mass General Cancer Center at Emerson Hospital for their unwavering kindness and support. 

Friends and family will gather to honor and remember Karen on Monday October 14, 2024 from 11:00AM to 2:00PM at Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St. Littleton, MA. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 2:00PM. Burial will be private.
