Karl Edwin Vogel, 91, a resident of Hollis for 45 years died at St. Joseph's Hospital on March 30, 2009 after a brief illness. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Rosa Vogel who died in 2003.
Karl was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on January 31, 1918, the son of Edwin P. and Vola (McCoy) Vogel. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Villanova University. After a short time of working in Kansas, he moved to McKean, PA to start a family and work at Hammerhill Paper Co. of Erie, PA. In 1963, he took an engineering position with Improved Machinery Corporation in Nashua, NH where he retired in 1983. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Pepperell.
Karl was an accomplished engineer. He designed and built the two homes the family occupied. He enjoyed gardening, oil painting, and repairing any number of faulty machines.
He is survived by four children, Karla Vogel of Hooksett, NH, Peter Vogel of Spring, Texas, John Vogel of Ukiah, CA and Gretchen Morin of Surry, NH; one grandson, Michael and a brother, F. Stephen Vogel of Durham, NC.
Services: There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the East Cemetery on Wheeler Road in Hollis, NH.
