Katherine Park

March 13, 1942 — February 4, 2020

Katherine Park, 77, of Harvard, passed away on Tuesday, Feburary 4th, 2020, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center. She was the loving wife of 36 years to the late Dr. Tae Young Park.

Born on March 13, 1942 in Daegu, South Korea, Katherine was the daughter of Sung Ju Kim and the late Yong Ho Kim. Katherine was raised and educated in Korea where she first met Dr. Park. The two were married on October 5, 1967. In 1971 they moved to the U.S. and eventually settled in Wayland where they made a home and raised their son and daughter, Sung-Jin and Eileen.

A talented florist and business owner, Kathy spent many hours in her flower shop arranging and decorating, but her love for beauty went far beyond her gift & flower shop. At home, Kathy was an avid gardener and truly enjoyed the satisfaction of nourishing herself and others from her bountiful garden. She also enjoyed interior decorating, volunteer work, singing, and music. In her spare time, she took lessons playing the harp and was a longtime member of the choir at St. John's Korean United Methodist Church in Lexington. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with friends and family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and a loyal friend to so many. Her presence will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Katherine is survived by her children, Sung-Jin and his wife Karen Park of San Diego, CA, Eileen and her husband Ryan Pilla of Groton as well as her siblings, Sun Young Kim, Sun Ok Kim, Kyoung Ok Kim and Sung Hae Kim all of South Korea. And her brother Tae Young Kim of Wayland and sister Linda Kim of Northborough, and her Mother Sung Ju Kim of South Korea. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Ambroos, Charlie and Violet. In addition to her husband and father, Katherine is predeceased by sister Heeja Kim.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Katherine for a period of visitation on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton.
