GROTON -- Kathleen T. Mersereau, of Groton, 61, passed away on January 2, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Concord, MA, January 25, 1952, daughter of the late Thomas F. and Helen (Slyne) Conlon.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clayton Mersereau, mother of Eric Mersereau and his wife, Sarah of Groton, and Tim Mersereau and his wife, Lauren of North Andover; and doting grandmother to Thomas Mersereau, also of North Andover. She is also survived by her four siblings, Marie Jones of Hampton, NH, Joseph Conlon of West Concord, Robert Conlon of Pepperell, and Claire Fontaine of Leominster.

Kathy was a graduate of Rose Hawthorne School in Concord and Mount Auburn School of Nursing in 1973.

She had a fulfilling career as a nurse, working in many facets of the industry. Kathy started her career at the Emergency Room at Emerson Hospital, followed by several years as an oncology nurse. She was also employed by Groton School as a school nurse. Later in her career, Kathy moved to the Andover campus of the IRS serving as Manager of the Occupational Health Unit.

Her greatest love was for her family. Together they shared a life of outdoor activities, skiing, walking, and vacationing. It was the time spent with family which provided her much joy in life.

Visiting Hours at Badger Funeral Home, 45 School St., Groton on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 from 4-7 PM. A Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Littleton, 451 King Street, Littleton, MA, Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Loaves and Fishes Pantry, where Kathy enjoyed volunteering.
