Kenneth T. Johnson, 88, a longtime resident of Littleton, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born January 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Irving and Evelyn (Montgomery) Johnson. He was the loving husband of Kathryn (Ware) Johnson, to whom he had been married to for 63 years.
Ken moved to Littleton with his family when he was in the sixth grade and graduated from Littleton High School in 1953. Growing up, he loved to play baseball with his friends and was a member of the Hornets. Ken served in the Air Force following high school and spent most of his service in Japan. He married Kay in 1960, and they built their home in Littleton. Ken spent most of his working years running the family business, Johnson’s Store, at the Depot in Littleton until he retired in 1997.
Ken always loved sports, especially any sport his children or grandchildren participated in. He could always be heard cheering loudly from the sidelines, no matter where he was. Ken was an avid golfer and loved playing as much as possible with his wife, their friends, and eventually his grandsons. After he retired, he spent a great deal of time babysitting his grandchildren, working in his yard, and enjoying the company of many dogs. He cherished family gatherings, good food, good drinks, and the love of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who love him.
Ken is survived by his wife Kay and their children, Karen Johnson of Littleton, Kenny and Sarah Johnson of Leominster, Kyle and Tammy Johnson of Townsend, and Keri Johnson Gray of Littleton. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren: Leslie and her husband Grant, Jake and his partner Mandy, Sam and his wife Vickie, Hunter and his wife Charlotte, Hayden, Mick, Jack, Angus, Shamus, Bretton, and Braydon, as well as two great-granddaughters Isla and Nora. Ken also leaves his sister Elaine (Johnson) Misch of Buckland, MA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
