Kyle Robert Sweeney

September 12, 2000 — January 3, 2024

Groton, Massachusetts

Kyle Robert Sweeney of Groton, beloved son of Daniel R. and Jennifer E. (Roy) Sweeney, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. He was 23 years old.

Born September 12, 2000, in Concord, Massachusetts, Kyle was raised in Groton and attended Groton elementary and middle schools. After graduating with the class of 2019 from Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua, NH, he attended Merrimack College in Andover, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design in May 2023.

From a young age, Kyle was curious about how things worked, and he became adept at fixing anything. During his teen years, he developed great skill in 3D design and printing and always had a project in progress. Kyle’s kind heart showed itself in his love for his family; he was generous with his time when any of them needed help with house projects and felt happiest when he was with them. He also cared deeply for animals including his own 2 dogs and 4 cats but had a special bond with his beloved cat, Nala. He volunteered for many years at the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats in Lunenberg and loved spending time with the residents there. Kyle was an “old soul” and recently developed a love of antiquing and collecting vintage vinyl records,  classic console video games and diners.  Travel was a large part of Kyle’s life and he was fortunate enough to visit many amazing places in his lifetime including Alcatraz, Hawaii and numerous trips to Disney in Florida, California and Paris.  One of his proudest accomplishments was a two week research trip to the Amazon Rainforest during high school.

In addition to his parents, Kyle is survived by his sister, Mackenzie Sweeney of North Kingstown, RI; his grandmother Mary Elizabeth Roy of Nashua, NH; his grandfather Robert Roy and his wife Michele of Merrimack, NH; four aunts, two uncles, and numerous cousins. Kyle was predeceased by his grandparents Charles and Nancy Sweeney. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who loved his gentle spirit and his quick and clever sense of humor.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Kyle during visiting hours on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 9 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace worshipping at St. Joseph Church, 28 Tarbell St., Pepperell. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pepperell.
