Laura Lee Athorn

Laura Lee (Shepard) Athorn, age 73, of Tyngsborough, formerly of Townsend, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at her home.  She was the wife of Ronald W. Athorn.

Laura Lee Shepard was born in Groton, Massachusetts, on April 20, 1950, the daughter of the late Charles Alexander and Dorothy Maude (Durant) Shepard.

On July 27, 1968, Ron and Laura married and settled in Townsend for over 40 years, where they raised their children.

She worked for Donelan's supermarket in Littleton for 25 years, during which she developed many longtime friends and acquaintances.  Her kind smile and demeanor were appreciated by all who knew her.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Laura cherished all the family gatherings and milestones.  She enjoyed many trips to Foxwoods and would make jackets and blankets for her children and grandchildren. 

Along with her husband, she is survived by her children, Donald Athorn and his wife Nicole of Westford and Jennifer MacDonald and her husband Angus of Winchendon; her grandchildren, Dayton Lavender, and his partner Ashley Tatro, Sarah, A.J. and Amanda MacDonald, Zachary and Alexa MacDonald, her great-granddaughter Evianna Lavender and sister Charlene Goodwin of Oklahoma and her life-long friend Joanne Butler of Hollis, NH.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Laura during visiting hours on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton, MA.  Funeral service will be private.
