We celebrate the life of Lawrence "Larry" Fisher, whose compassionate heart touched many lives during his 94 years. Born on May 11,1931 in Boston, Larry grew up in Medford, Massachusetts the youngest of five siblings. Larry spent most of his life in Littleton, where he was a beloved member of the community. Though his journey on this earth ended on March 8, 2026, his spirit remains alive in the hearts of those who knew him.

Larry joined the Airforce in 1952, where he spent four dedicated years mostly at Warrington AFB outside of Liverpool, England. Unable to fulfil his dream of becoming a pilot due to a vision issue, Larry became a member of the military police. It was here that Larry learned to shoot and became quite a good marksman. He later joined the Harvard Sportsmen’s club and participated on the weekly shooting team, competing in shooting matches against other local clubs. Larry combined his interest in shooting and his love for history becoming a Littleton Minuteman, participating in reenactments and black powder shoots. He later joined the Chelmsford Minuteman Cannon Crew as well.

After meeting his wife, Lynda, at a dance in 1957, they continued to dance through life together, enjoying ballroom dancing, square dancing, country western dancing, and Scottish ceilidhs. They also enjoyed many hours together planning and executing a beautifully landscaped yard. Lynda did all the planning, and Larry did all the heavy work.

Soon after marrying Lynda, Larry became employed by General Radio, later to become GenRad. Eventually he worked at Digital Equipment Corporation for a few years. His primary occupation was a spray painter of computer cabinetry.

Larry's compassionate nature led him to contribute significantly to his community. His empathy and unyielding dedication to helping others in need were evident in his efforts as one of the founding volunteers of the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Devens, MA. He continued to volunteer his time and effort for many years, as long as he was able. Larry and Lynda joined the Littleton First Baptist Church in 1960, where Larry served as Trustee for five decades.

Always being active in his life, Larry was known for walking great distances. He could be seen walking all around town with their beloved Golden Retriever, Mosby. Larry had quite a pace and completed several 5k walks well into his 80’s. He was an annual presence at the Harvard Walk for Hunger, completing his last 20-mile journey at age 80. His last 5k was in 2019 at 88 years old.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Laurie Mongelli, and grandson, Michael Mongelli. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Ella Fisher; his wife, Lynda Fisher; his son, Scott Fisher; his brother, Albert Fisher; and his sisters, Clara Burke, Ree Wells, and Mary Landers.

As we mourn the loss of Larry, we celebrate his life and the countless ways he touched the lives of others. Please share your memories of Larry and upload photos to his memorial page, so that we may all continue to remember and celebrate his inspirational life.
