Obituary

Leanora Sera Murray, a resident of Westford, Massachusetts, passed away on June 3, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia from a fatal car accident.

Leanora was born on March 19, 2007, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was the beloved daughter of Mariann Gina (Minghetti) Murray of Somerville, Massachusetts, and the late Denis Anthony Murray of Cork City, Ireland.

Leanora graduated from Westford Academy in 2025 and had just completed her first year at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where she was majoring in Film & Television.

A gifted and multifaceted artist, Leanora's creative passions included graphic & digital design, animation, painting, drawing, and pottery. She could spend hours sketching while listening to music, with Billie Eilish being her favorite artist. What many people didn't know was that Leanora herself had a beautiful singing voice, an angelic voice that she rarely shared with others.

Leanora is survived by her older brother, Tadgh (22), and her younger brother, Denis "Dinny" (14). More than siblings, Leanora, Tadgh, and Dinny were best friends. They shared an extraordinary bond built on love, trust, laughter, and endless conversations. Whether they were making music together, playing games, discussing art, or talking about life late into the night, they genuinely enjoyed each other's company. Leanora especially loved talking art and creativity with Dinny, and she shared a unique connection with both of her brothers that few siblings experience. They were inseparable, always there for one another through life's highs and lows. The love they shared was one of the greatest joys of her life and will remain forever in their hearts. They would never leave the house or go to bed without saying “I love you.”

She also leaves behind her beloved pets: Ollie and Kurty, her cats, and Willis and Dixie, her cherished basset hounds. Before deciding to pursue art, Leanora dreamed of becoming a veterinarian because of her deep love for animals.

Leanora worked as a swim instructor at Goldfish Swim School in Westford, where she adored the children she taught. She often spoke about how proud she was to watch them gain confidence, overcome their fears, and progress in the water. Kind, patient, and caring, Leanora formed special bonds with her students and returned home each day feeling fulfilled. She loved her coworkers and managers and treasured the friendships she made there.

Leanora also loved her summer job in Falmouth on Cape Cod. Working weekends at Jim's Clam Shack alongside her brother Tadgh and friends Con-Mon, Noah, Devin (Buddha). Enjoying the summer with Erin, Jake, Millie, Caroline, Jon-Mon, Vickie & the Witkum Family, The Valcourts, along with many others who brought her immense joy. Those summers were some of her happiest times, and she looked forward to them every year. Leanora’s childhood in Lowell, MA with her childhood bestie, Grace (Anderson) and her mom’s childhood bestie, Auntie Colleen (Anderson). Such good times were had.

Leanora was funny, intelligent, witty, creative, and, as her mother lovingly noted, every bit a young adult. She loved her friends deeply, especially Carinna, Kallie, Shelby, Martin & Sophia, along with the many, many others including her new friends from SCAD whose lives she touched.

Leanora shared an especially close bond with her father, Denis, aka dada. They loved spending time together watching movies, particularly animated films, as well as TLC home makeover shows and Curious George. Their connection was unbreakable, and his loss left a profound impact on her life. Leanora would always talk about her dada and laugh at the story she would always tell when her dada would bite her throat (nose) because he loved her so much, he always called her “My beauty” or “My sweetheart.” She would also laugh and say he had peanut butter breath. Almost every night they would fall asleep next to each other, happy as one could be, all cozy wherever they would land. Leanora loved her millions of blankets and just loved being cozy watching her favorite shows, one being “New Girl.” She and her mum would cuddle and laugh and would then say after every show “Ugh, I love that show!”

At SCAD, Leanora quickly distinguished herself as an exceptionally talented storyteller and filmmaker. Her screenplay, Smack Talk, was selected by her classmates for production by an overwhelming vote. When given the opportunity to direct and produce the project herself, she initially felt nervous but embraced the challenge wholeheartedly. After completing the film, she proudly shared how much she had grown from the experience and how proud she was of the final product. She was especially excited to tell her classmates that the film's music had been composed by her brother, Tadgh.

Her professors remembered her fondly. One described her as "always smiling, friendly, and eager to connect and participate." Another praised her outstanding sound design work, noting in grading comments that she was a sound designer in the making. A professor also remarked that "occasionally a student emerges from the pack with a wholly unique voice and style, and I would count Leanora among them." Her ideas were funny, original, and wonderfully subversive, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to teach her.

As one of her SCAD professors shared, "She was an innovative thinker and had a great eye for detail." Leanora connected with others through her art, creativity, and unique way of seeing the world. Whether through film, drawing, painting, or simply being herself, she expressed beauty, humor, and authenticity in everything she created. She was a selfless soul whose face was always turned toward the sun, finding light and sharing it with those around her.

While attending SCAD, Leanora met Max, a fellow Film & Television major. The two fell deeply in love and envisioned a future together. Leanora often told her mother that she knew Max was the one she would someday marry. Their relationship was built on genuine love, friendship, and mutual admiration. Max became a member of the Murray family and will always hold a special place in their hearts.

Along with her mother and brothers, Leanora is survived by her grandmother, Mary (Daly) Murray; her uncles, Jim, Tim and Bob; her aunts, Kate, Marjorie, Jennifer, Tina, and Elisa; her cousins, Padraig, Kate, Seamus, Cian, Liam, Finn, Drew, Teddy, John-John, Ariana, and Aidan; and her great-cousins, Penny, Ellie, and Noah, all of whom loved her dearly and she them.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that her father, Denis; her grandfathers, Gino Minghetti and James Murray; and her grandmother, Eleanor (Attardo) Minghetti, were there to welcome her as she entered the gates of Heaven.

Leanora's creativity, kindness, humor, and love touched countless lives. Though her time here was far too short, the impact she made on her family, friends, classmates, professors, coworkers, and everyone fortunate enough to know her will live on forever.

In one final act of generosity, Leanora chose to be an organ donor. Her gift of life will provide hope and healing to others, reflecting the kindness and compassion that defined her life. While her family mourns the loss of her physical presence, they find comfort in knowing that Leanora's legacy lives on through these precious gifts and the lives she continues to touch.

Though her time on earth was far too brief, Leanora's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her and in the lives she helped save.

My beauty. My mama. Our Best Friend.
