Margaret (Badgley) Jeffers, age 65 of Westford, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Robert Jeffers.
Margaret was born on April 22, 1956, in Summit, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Donald and Irma Elizabeth (Walden) Badgley. Raised and educated in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, she graduated from Ridge High School in 1974. She attended Eastern College, graduating in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in Social Work. Margaret met her husband Bob in Bernardsville, New Jersey in 1974, and they married in Madison, New Jersey in 1976.
Margaret's life was a model of deep devotion to family. It's that model that will sustain the family she leaves behind. Even as ALS limited her abilities she still found ways to build up her family in new ways. Her final act, letters to her husband, children, and grandchildren, containing a personal gift were her way of continuing to build up the family even after she was gone.
Margaret had multiple careers as founding director of Two-by-Two Daycare, founding librarian at Mount Zion Christian Schools, pre-school and kindergarten teacher, librarian assistant, and school board member. All these various endeavors did not define her but they did reveal her as a partner, teacher, mentor, friend, lifelong learner, and follower of Jesus.
Margaret loved playing games with the grandkids, reading, swimming, and travel with family and friends. Some of her most memorable trips included many visits to Disney World and four visits to New Zealand to visit her husband Bob's family and tour the country. Everyone agrees that she was a great trip organizer, making every trip a huge success.
In addition to her husband, Bob, Margaret is survived by her children, Sara Waggener and her husband Nik of Winchester, Melissa Gawlik and her husband Aaron of Boxborough and Alan Badgley Jeffers of Westford; her brother, William Badgley and his wife Carol McEntee of Newmarket, New Hampshire. She is also survived by her 2 grandchildren, Nathan and Nolan Gawlik. In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her daughter Krista Anne Jeffers and her sister, Irma Elizabeth Loderick.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Margaret for a period of visitation on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Harbor of Hope Christian Church, 68 Princeton Street, North Chelmsford from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM. A memorial service will take place immediately following the visitation at 11:30 AM. Margaret will be laid to rest at a later date beside her parents in the New Hampton Village Cemetery in New Hampshire.
