Westford, Massachusetts

Marie ‘Gemma’ (Breau) Lelievre of Westford, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 96.

She was born on March 29, 1929, in Cocagne, New Brunswick, Canada. Gemma's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and the strength of the human spirit.

Gemma started her life in the United States as a teenager. She moved to Waltham, MA to join her older sister, Aurea, where she later met her husband, Bob. She and Bob were married 59 years until his passing in 2013. They started their family in Waltham and later moved to Westford, where they raised their eight children.

Gemma was a supportive and thoughtful mother, a dedicated homemaker, and a person who cherished the simple joys of life. She was an extraordinary cook and baker, her kitchen was a place of magic where she effortlessly conjured up delightful dishes that brought smiles to everyone's faces. Her love for playing cards was well known in her circle, and she had a knack for making every game competitive and fun-filled. Gemma carried her birthplace, Cocagne, NB, close to her heart. She loved vacationing there, reminiscing about her childhood memories, and visiting friends and family.

Gemma is survived by her sons: Robert (Judy), Thomas (Natalie), Michael and David (Kristen); along with her daughters: Denise Tully (Michael) and Sheila Black (John). She is also survived by her beloved 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amedee and Clara (Cormier) Breau; her sons Raymond and Dennis; and her beloved husband, J. Robert Lelievre, whom she married on May 8, 1954, and shared an incredible journey of love and companionship. Gemma was the last surviving member of her family of nine siblings, Omer, Aurea, Raoul, Achille, Fernando, Yolande, Ulysse and Ronald.
