Marjorie Calkins Payne of Littleton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her children, at the age of 84 on September 7, 2025, after a courageous battle against Cancer.
She was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, in February 1941, the daughter of the late Merrill and Myrtle Calkins. Marjorie graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Occupational Therapy in 1962 and spent 48 years serving patients in the Nursing home setting and the Bedford VA hospital. Upon her retirement, Marjorie loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Marjorie was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Littleton. As many in the community could see, Marjorie’s main passion was serving the community as a member of the Littleton Council on Aging. She started serving on the COA board in 1972. After leaving for a few years, she returned in 2011, where she served as a board member and Chair from 2014-2025. She was committed to the planning, construction, and grand opening of the Center on Shattuck Street. Shortly before her passing, Marjorie received a commendation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives for her “44 years of service and Instrumental Leadership on the Council on Aging Board”.
She leaves her daughter, Tracie Ferreira, and husband, Corey Ferreira of Dartmouth, her son Brian Payne and wife Jodye of Gardner, and her grandchildren, Lexye and Colby Payne, and Tyler Ferreira.
Family and friends will gather for a period of visitation on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton, Massachusetts. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at the First Baptist Church of Littleton, 416 King St., Littleton, Massachusetts.
