Mary P. (Coughlin) Caggiano

September 16, 1932 — January 17, 2020

Mary P. (Coughlin) Caggiano, 87, of Shirley, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Lifecare Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, MA on January 17, 2020. She was the wife of the late John R. Caggiano.

Born in Somerville on September 16, 1932, Mary was the eldest daughter to the late William and Ellen (Healy) Coughlin. She was raised in Cambridge where she attended St. John's. She married John in 1964, and the couple moved to West Concord where they raised their children. Mary's family was paramount in her life. Her words of wisdom and ability to lead by example were for so many people a beacon of light in their lives. Mary's faith was also an integral part of her life. She immersed herself in religious studies, taught CCD and always made herself available to be of service to anyone in need. Mary's vivacious zest for life and living out her faith will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mary is survived by her children; Sheila Checchi and her partner, Gordon (Chuck) King, Susan Caggiano and her partner, Peter Morse, and Jan Heiland and her husband, Jefferson. She is also survived by her sisters, AnnMarie Farrell and Margaret Boccuzzo, and her grandchildren Stephanie Checchi, Ryan Checchi and his wife Monica, Alex Gruson and her fiancé Alex Eisner. In addition to her husband, Mary is sadly predeceased by her sons, Kevin and Sean Fedele.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Mary for a memorial mass on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 10:00 at St. Anne Church, 75 King Street, Littleton. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall immediately following. Interment will be private.
