Mary Catherine (Bradley) Randig

March 8, 1927 – February 20, 2024

Mary Randig died peacefully on February 20, 2024. Mary and her husband George have been residents of Harvard since 1960.

Mary was born in Bridgeport, CT to Catherine and Christopher A. Bradley. She graduated from Bassick High School and Danbury State Teacher’s College (now Western Connecticut State University).  Mary had a long career in teaching, primarily focused on elementary, gifted, and ESL.   She taught at schools in Syosset NY, Arlington MA, Acton MA, Harvard MA, and Boxboro MA.

Mary and George married in 1957. After initially living in Acton MA, they moved to Harvard where they raised their children. Mary was proud of her beautiful flower gardens and was a member of the Garden Club of Harvard. Mary was interested in local history and enjoyed collecting antiques. She also spent many hours researching her family’s genealogy and took a trip to Ireland with her daughter Anne to visit family sites. She was an accomplished pianist and, when George took up the oboe, she accompanied him on duets.  Mary and George spent happy years sailing in their sailboat around the Cape and Islands, as well as to Rhode Island, New York City, and up the Hudson River.  She enjoyed vacationing in Bermuda, Cape Cod, and Nantucket. Mary was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Mary was dedicated to her family, and she closely followed activities and celebrated accomplishments of her grandchildren. She enjoyed visits with them in Philadelphia and San Francisco, particularly when her visits overlapped with Grandparents’ Day at their schools.

Mary is survived by her devoted husband George; children Karen and her husband Zachary Fisher, Anne, and Rachel and partner Angela Green; grandchildren Samuel Fisher, Jane Andres, Erin Andres, and Aidan Andres; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her two sisters Frances Prokop and her husband Frank Prokop and Joyce Dabney and her husband George Dabney.
