Mary M. Wheeler, 100, longtime resident of Pepperell passed away into God's hands on February 23, 2015. She was the wife of the late Silas H. Wheeler, Sr. who died in 1981. Mary was a beloved Matriarch of 122 including 8 children, 30 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 33 great great grandchildren.
She was born in Maynard, MA on September 1, 1914, the daughter of the late Simon and Olga (Taravick) Czarnionka. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for over 25 years at Bemis Company and was a member of the Bemis 20-Year Club. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pepperell V.F.W. Post #3291. Mary was an avid bingo player.
She is survived by her two sons, John Wheeler and his wife Vivian of Hudson, MA and Silas Wheeler, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Pepperell; five daughters, Mary Lazette of Ashby, June Archer of Pepperell, Gloria Burton and her husband Bill of Hollis, NH, Daisy Tierney and her husband Paul of Pepperell and Judith Carlisle of Exeter, NH; 30 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 33 great great grandchildren and her dear bingo friend Harriet Grant. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Dorothy Bristol and her husband James and loving son-in-law, James Archer; four brothers, Adolfe, Joseph, John and Simon Czarnionka and a sister, Katherine Latour.
Relatives and friends may call at the MARCHAND FUNERAL HOME, 16 Pleasant Street, Pepperell, MA on Sunday, March 1st from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. followed by funeral services at the funeral home.
