Michael Eugene Roberts

Michael E. Roberts, age 80 of Groton passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018. He was the husband of the late Georgess Chase McHargue. He is survived by his daughters Kelly Richardson of Texas, Traci Ann Roberts of Oregon and Mairi Kathleen Elliott-Savall of Groton as well as his gifted grandsons.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Michael on Saturday, March 24 at 11:00 am in the First Parish in Groton, 1 Powderhouse Road, Groton. ​A local group known as the Morningstar Drummers will help us to send off the spirit of this long-time community member.


When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
