Michele Francis Sokota Truex

June 7, 1966 — February 10, 2025

Groton, Massachusetts

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Michele Francis Sokota Truex, who left us at the age of 58 on Monday, February 10, 2025.  In 2018, Michele was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and bravely battled it for the last 7 years. She was fearless until the very end. She is survived by her husband, Dave; her sons, Avry and Aren; her sister, Holly; and her extended family.

Growing up in Titusville, Florida, with her sisters Holly and Dawn, she was the youngest of three children raised by Michael and Eleanor Sokota. Graduated from Astronaut High School in 1984 and went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Physics from Brevard Community College and the University of Central Florida. She later earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Michele lived a vibrant life filled with passions, including sports, gymnastics, music, writing poetry, theater, travel, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying the beach. Michele had a deep love for all animals and cherished her many pets throughout the years. Above all, she found joy in serving others.

After moving to Boston, Michele met the love of her life, David Truex. Together, they shared 28 wonderful years of marriage and created invaluable memories with their sons. Her greatest joy came from her family and her faith in Jesus.

Michele brought light into the lives of everyone she encountered. She found peace in prayer, strength in scripture, and comfort in the promise of eternal life. With a curious mind and a generous heart, she was a devoted follower of Christ, a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. Michele's faith in the Lord guided her throughout her life, and she will be deeply missed.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Michele for her wonderful contributions made to the world on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Orchard Church, 130 Littleton Road, Westford.

In 2022 Michele took on the behemoth task of training to participate in the 26+ mile challenge to raise funds for cancer research in the Jimmy Fund Walk. Apart from herself, many of Michele’s loved ones have been directly affected by cancer, including her older sister, Dawn, who died when she was just 19 years old. For the past three years, every year, Michele has organized a team to participate in the challenge, and this year, in lieu of flowers, her family and friends will continue this tradition and kindly ask that you consider donating or joining us for part of the walk. You can find us on the danafarber.jimmyfund.org site under the "DONATE" section, where the team name is Michele's Minions. Please help us exceed our goal and honor Michele with a strong turnout.
