With heartfelt reverence, we celebrate the life of Paul Ward, a courageous and dedicated man whose spirit and resilience inspired many. Paul passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, with his wife by his side. Born on July 1, 1951, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Paul crafted a life filled with remarkable achievements and treasured moments, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was a courageous soul who faced life's ups and downs with an unwavering and contagious smile.
Paul was a man of many talents and interests. His professional journey began after graduating from South High School in Worcester in 1969, followed by earning a Bachelor's Degree in computer science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1973. His thirst for knowledge was unquenchable, and he further pursued his intellectual curiosity by attending classes at Clark University, especially the musical classes. Eventually, he found himself delving into the world of technology, becoming a notable figure in computer science. Throughout his career, Paul's innovative mind and dedicated spirit led to numerous accomplishments.
Despite his professional commitments, Paul found time to engage in his favorite pastimes. He was a man who embraced the beauty of nature, often found biking, hiking, or enjoying scenic rides with his beloved wife, Sandy. An animal enthusiast, Paul held a special affection for dogs, although it was often said that cats were equally drawn to his kind-hearted nature. Paul enjoyed music and played various instruments, including the accordion, trumpet, and tuba. His favorite rock band was The Talking Heads. Paul discovered that he loved the same classical music that his father in law, Raymond Cornish, and they enjoyed listening to Ray's records together. They also shared the love of the outdoors, as Ray was an Eagle Scout. Paul and Ray enjoyed working on the bungalo that Paul and Sandy had purchased in Waltham, it was a special bonding experience for them.
Paul's life was not just about personal and professional achievements; he was a man of deep faith, hope, and love. The inspiring resilience he demonstrated throughout his life was grounded in his unwavering devotion to his cherished family. Paul's love story with Sandy was one of a kind, a testament to their enduring love.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Cornish Ward (Sandy), his sister Dianne Davenport (Gregory Davenport), his brother Steven Ward (Jane M. Anderson), his brother in law Edward Raymond Cornish, and his mother-in-law, Christina Cornish, who is soon to be 101 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alice Ward.
Paul’s life was a testament to the power of dedication, resilience, and love. His journey may have ended, but his inspiring spirit will continue to live in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
