Peggy E. Steele

Peggy E. Steele, 87 of Shirley passed away on December 22, 2021 at her home. She was born in Whitewater, Missouri on June 3, 1934, daughter of the late Williams Stephens and Alma Stephens (Bacon).

She married James Steele in 1953. They were married for 61 years. With her husband's service in the Army she traveled to Ethiopia, England and spent the year of his Vietnam tour in Illinois.

Peggy is survived by two daughters and a son, Kathleen Blanchette preceded by her husband Kenneth Blanchette of Shirley, Sheryl Hanson preceded by her husband Bruce Hanson of Shirley, Richard Steele and his wife Cathy of Bridgewater, a daughter-in-law Darlene Steele, wife of her preceded son Michael Steele and her sister, Leona Buatte and her husband William of Dupo, IL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. Derek Blanchette, Jimmy Steele, Nathan Steele, Corey Hanson, Ashley Cameron, Tyler Steele and Victoria Costa. Also, she was the great grandmother to four great grandchildren and great-great grandmother to two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Peggy is predeceased by her son, Michael Steele, her grandson, Nicholas Steele, her sisters Nelda Pfost, of FL and Patsy Childers and her husband Ray of San Antonio, TX.

Peggy enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, playing Texas Hold 'Em and Bingo. In her later years, the one constant was her presence at Sunday Service at New Hope Community Church in Ayer. She was loved by many and will be missed by more.

A graveside memorial service will be held for Peggy in the spring of 2022 at a date and time to be announced.
