Ayer, Massachusetts

Emblem

Peter Creswell McLaughlin of Ayer, MA passed away peacefully on the evening of December 7, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born in Bristol, CT to the late John and Shirley (Hemond) McLaughlin. Pete was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and grandfather. Pete is survived by his wife Debbie McLaughlin of Ayer, MA, his daughter Lauren and son-in-law Ace Elefteriadis of Acton, MA, his two beloved grandchildren, sisters Marilyn (Art) Ritchie of Mansfield, OH, Karen Harper of Hanover, MA, Eileen Kerekesh of Santa Rosa, CA, sister in law and brother in law Pam and Jack Davis of Middlebury, CT, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Peter was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross before proudly serving time in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1978. He was a Lieutenant and Weapons Officer and later an Instructor at the Naval Destroyer School in Newport, RI. Once honorably discharged from the Navy, Pete’s work led him to settle in Massachusetts, where he would live out his life.

Through the years, Pete and Debbie enjoyed traveling and vacationing worldwide. Pete loved being outdoors, especially in New Hampshire, skiing, boating, hiking, and biking, but his favorite pastime in life was being a grandfather. Pete reveled in just being with his adoring granddaughters whether it was babysitting them, making up games to play, vacationing, attending their games, or just going out for breakfast. The feeling was mutual; they loved that he lived close enough to always be around. There was nothing Pete loved more than spending time with his family and friends. He taught us all to enjoy the little things in life and to never miss an opportunity to be together with family.
