Phyllis Sara (Sullivan) Rood, 78 of Littleton, died peacefully at home on March 6, 2020. She was the wife of Kenneth J. Rood, who passed away in 2015.
Phyllis was born in Cambridge on August 19, 1941, daughter to the late Dennis Sullivan and Lillian (McKim) Riley. She was married at a young age and moved to Westford, where she started her family. Upon moving to Littleton in 1978, Phyllis met and married her husband, Ken. For many years, Phyllis worked as a filing clerk at Groton Medical Associates. Phyllis was a fierce advocate for seniors and veterans. She enjoyed conversations over a cup of coffee and would often couple her advice with a quip or comical story. Phyllis enjoyed vacationing in Maine, where she especially loved the craggy coast. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and lover of all furry four-legged friends. She will be dearly missed.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Denise Moniz and partner Chris Alphen of Littleton, grandson John Moniz of Worcester, grandson Matthew Moniz and partner Bridget Hutchins of Orange, and great-grandson Kenneth Moniz; daughters Phyllis Ashley and Laurie Pedro; son Michael Holleran; grandchildren Stephanie, Shannon, Jessica, Jeffrey, and Jamie; great-granddaughter Maddilynn; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Dennis and Ronald Sullivan, and Irene Gibson.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Phyllis for a period of visitation on Thursday March 12, 2020 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton. Her funeral service will take place in the funeral home on Friday March 13, 2020 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, New Estate Road, Littleton.
