Raymond C. Powles

Raymond C. Powles, Jr., a longtime resident of Nashua, NH died peacefully on July 21, 2016 following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (McDevitt) Powles with whom he spent 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Ray was born on October 10, 1929 in Newburgh, NY, the son of the late Raymond C. Powles, Sr. and Caroline (Montfort) Powles. After graduating from high school , he joined the United States Navy and served as a communications specialist. Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked for Sanders Associates as an engineer writer. He remained with them for twenty-three years and retired as they were known as BAE Systems. He was a member of the Masons of Cherryfield, ME and the Eastern Star Organization. He was also a member of the Pepperell V.F.W. Post #3291. Ray was a very devoted family man and often enjoyed spending time at the family homestead in Franklin, ME.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Raymond C. Powles, III of Goffstown, NH, a daughter, Stephanie (Powles) Murphy and her husband William (Bill) Murphy of Pepperell, MA, three grandchildren, Caitlin Powles, Nicole Murphy and William (Billy) Murphy, Jr.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to the Narraguagus Masonic Lodge #88, 8 Wilson Hill Road, Cherryfield, ME 04622.
