April 2, 1919 — September 5, 2012

Raymond S. Wright, 93, died peacefully in his sleep early Wednesday morning September 5, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Fitchburg, MA.

Born in Gloucester, MA on April 2, 1919, his family soon moved to Brookline, NH. Ray came to Pepperell in his teens to work on the Harold Olsen Farm on Oak Hill. He met his wife of 67 years, Gladys (Duke) Wright, through events sponsored by the Pepperell Grange and Odd Fellows.

Ray and Gladys were active in square dancing and attended all area band concerts for years. They always enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing cards and board games.

After many years of retirement they moved to Nashoba Park Assisted Living in Ayer, MA, and still together they transferred to the Golden Living Center of Fitchburg a year ago.

Besides his wife, Gladys, he is survived by their four children: R. Barry Wright and his wife, Jane, of Cabot, VT, Gail Shattuck and her husband, David, of Pepperell, Patricia Lynch and her husband J. Michael of Pepperell, and Cheryl Wright of Elyria, OH. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Heather MacCoy and her husband, D. Bentley, Jacob Shattuck, Sarah Urban and her husband Will, Andrea Lynch and Stephanie Lynch, and three great grandchildren: Samantha, Gwenyth, and Amelia MacCoy.

Family and friends are invited to a calling hour to be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 2:30-3:30 pm at the Golden Living Center, 1199 John Fitch Highway, Fitchburg, MA.
