Robert Chapin

Robert (Bob) Chapin, 91 passed away Saturday February 19, 2022, peacefully surrounded by his family at Apple Valley Center in Ayer, MA.

Bob was born in Somerville, MA on August 11, 1930, son of Benjamin and Melinda (Senecal) Chapin. Bob was one of seven children and the last one in his family to survive. He joined the United States Air Force in 1948 and served for 20 years. His service years were in Korea, Thailand and Japan before settling stateside in Wichita, KS, where he retired in 1969 and moved his family to Littleton MA.

During his lifetime Bob enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, playing cribbage, crossword puzzles, woodworking, he also enjoyed fly tying and watching the birds on warm summer days at his home in Ayer. He was a member of the Tree of Life in Milford, NH and in the end was engaged in Sunday services via Zoom. He spent his last years living with his son Brad and Brad's wife Cathy.

Bob is survived by his loving family, three sons and three grandchildren, his son Brad and his wife Cathy, his son David and his partner Peg Buxton, and his son Ed. Grandson Brendan Chapin and his partner Mary Ellen Liacos, granddaughters Cynthia Chapin, her fiancé Chris Hamilton, Karyn and her husband Matt Fiorello. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A private memorial service will be held in the spring at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.
