Leominster

Robert Bruce (Bob) Hanna), 88, of Leominster, MA, the youngest of the five children of Archibald and Rachel (Knight) Hanna, passed away peacefully at home on February 2nd, 2014. Loving husband of 26 years to the late Mary Ann (Vincent) Hanna, and previously for 30 years to the late Mary Elizabeth (Reed) Hanna. He was the beloved father of two children (Kathy and Doug) and five step-children (Mary, Dottie, Robby, Bob Jr, and Rich). He had numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was the brother of Priscilla (Pat) (Hanna) Hanks and of the late John (Jay) Hanna, Archibald Hanna, Jr., and Ruth (Hanna) Barkley.

Bob grew up in Worcester, MA, graduating from Boston University in 1950. He served in the Army in both World War II and the Korean conflict, including deployments in England, Belgium and Germany. After his military duty he made a career in technical writing, producing advertising, marketing, and supporting documentation for numerous medical and scientific instruments.

During retirement, Bob's passion for well written and effective communication continued in his work on various church publications and resume consultations for friends and family. In recent years he also worked with his siblings and wife to produce several family memoirs, bringing the decades of the 30's and 40's alive for the younger generations of the family.

Bob was a friend to many. He lived with humor, integrity, and love, and will be sorely missed.

Bob was a devout member of the Congregational Church of Littleton, and a Memorial Service for him will be held there at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 8th, followed by a reception in the Church hall. All are welcome to the service and reception. The Church is located at 330 King St, Littleton. Burial services in the Newton Cemetery will be private; there are no calling hours.

Special thanks to the Health Alliance Home Health and Hospice team as well as numerous private care staff. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, The Congregational Church of Littleton, MA, or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are by Badger Funeral Home, Littleton, MA.
