Robert (Bob) Joseph Maimone, 70, Littleton resident and a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2021. Bob overcame the complexities of paraplegia and blindness as the result of an auto accident in 2004, with great resilience. He was a source of inspiration to loved ones, who witnessed him refuse to let his disability define him, live life to the fullest, and successfully conquer any challenge.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and best friend, Mary (Caggiano) Maimone to whom he was married to for 49 years. In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his children; Linda (Maimone) Brown and her husband Scott of Littleton, Robert (Bob) Maimone and his wife Sandra of Woburn, and Joseph (Joe) Maimone of Salem, NH. Proud grandfather (Papa) to Nicholas, Emily, Bryce and Ethan. Loving son of the late Frank and Jeannette (Mina) Maimone of Arlington and loving son-in-law of Claire Caggiano of Arlington. Dear brother of Richard Maimone and his wife Patty, of Ayer and Maryanne (Maimone) Caggiano and her husband Michael of Woburn. Cherished brother-in-law of Linda Caggiano of Lexington. Proud uncle to many.
Raised in Arlington, Bob was a proud 1969 graduate of Arlington HS, and enlisted in the Army Reserves after graduation. After being honorably discharged, he was proud to be awarded a machinist apprenticeship at the Charlestown Navy Yard. He was most recently employed at MIT Lincoln Laboratories in Lexington where he was honored to work on multiple projects for the Department of Defense.
Bob was an avid lover of classic cars. Among his prized possessions were his 1934 Ford and his 1955 Chevy. On weekends, Bob could be seen at several classic car shows, most recently earning trophies for years of his hard work both building and maintaining his passion.
Bob especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and cheering them on at sporting events, helping them work on school projects and sharing his views on life with them. No matter where he went, Bob touched the lives of everyone he met. He will be remembered for his perseverance, and his deep and abiding devotion to his faith and family.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Bob for a period of visitation on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 9:00 am in Blessed Trinity Parish- St. Anne Church, 75 King Street, Littleton. Interment will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Pine Ridge Road, Westford. All are welcome.
