Robert Francis McGrath age 90 of Salem, NH formerly of Groton passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Doody) McGrath and Winifred Mary (Sheerin) McGrath
Born in Groton on October 13, 1926 he was the son of the late James F. and Charlotte (Patterson) McGrath.
Raised and educated in Groton, while attending high school Bob enlisted in the United States Army during WWII, upon his return home he along with other WWII Veterans were awarded their Groton High School diploma an achievement he was proud of.
Bob and Winnie married in 1949 and enjoyed 21 years together, after Winnie's death in 1970, Bob married Margaret and they enjoyed 37 years together until her death is 2011. Robert Lived most of his life in Groton where he worked for many years as an electrical lineman for the Town of Groton Electric Department. Upon his Retirement Robert and Margaret lived in Kissimmee Fl., Englewood Fl. and Salem NH.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family going out to dinner and watching sporting events. He was never far from his constant companion his dog Lola. He also really enjoyed his lunch dates with his girls, he was also an avid Red Sox fan and rarely missed a game.
He is survived by his son, Michael McGrath of Townsend, his stepson, Michael Williams of Atkinson, NH and his stepdaughter Gayle Williams and her husband Sam Parnagian of Salem, NH with whom Bob resided since 1998. His grandson Joseph McGrath and his wife Saskia of Germany, his nieces and nephews Lisa, Susan, Maura, Doug and Charlene, several grandnieces and grandnephews.
