Robin Greenwood Bedell

June 26, 1954 — February 11, 2026

Harvard, Massachuetts

Robin Greenwood Bedell, 71, of Harvard, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, after a courageous battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Robin was the daughter of the late William R. and Rose E. (Malanowski) Greenwood. She was raised in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School. She continued her education at Houghton College, earning her undergraduate degree, and later received her master’s degree from Boston University.

Robin was a thoughtful, intelligent, and deeply compassionate woman who approached life with humility and quiet strength. She enjoyed a successful career in the computer hardware industry as a Hardware Reliability Engineer, beginning at Computer Vision, where she met her future husband, Jeffrey. In her later years, Robin shared her love of learning and her extraordinary patience by tutoring mathematics to students of all ages, helping them build confidence and achieve academic success.

Robin and Jeffrey Lawrence Bedell were married on November 21, 1981. Jeff proposed to Robin in York Beach, Maine, forever establishing it as a cherished and special place for their family. Together they made their home in Harvard, Massachusetts, where they lovingly raised their two daughters and later delighted in welcoming grandchildren. Even after her terminal cancer diagnosis, Robin embraced life fully, taking a memorable family trip to Disney World and creating cherished memories with her loved ones. Her family was the center of her world, and she devoted herself to creating a home filled with warmth, encouragement, and faith.

Robin felt closest to God when surrounded by nature. She found peace and joy hiking wooded trails, tending her garden, camping in Acadia National Park, and walking along Crane Beach. She also had a deep love of music and was an exceptional—though ever humble—violinist. A long-time member of Trinity Church in Bolton, Robin served on the Worship Committee and shared her musical gifts by playing the violin in the church ensemble. Her faith and music were deeply intertwined, bringing beauty and inspiration to her community.

Robin was the kind of person who consistently placed the needs and feelings of others before her own. Even during her illness, her concern remained for those around her. Her loss leaves a profound void in the lives of her family and friends, and she will be remembered always for her gracious spirit, her selflessness, and her enduring devotion to those she loved.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Jeffrey Lawrence Bedell of Harvard; her daughters, Rebecca “Becca” Bedell of Garrettsville, OH, and Sarah Portuondo and her husband Joseph of Harvard; her cherished grandchildren, Melody Portuondo and Joseph “Joey” Portuondo; her sisters, Jane Greenwood-Fiaschetti and her husband Anthony of Cumberland, ME, and Lori Alaimo of Townsend; her brothers-in-law, Scott Bedell of East Burke, VT, and Lonnie Bedell of Woodsville, NH; nine nieces and nephews: Jacqui Heinrich and her fiancé Brian; Austin Heinrich and his wife Caren; Maxwell Heinrich and his fiancée Mikayla; Dana Snyder and her husband Bryce; Andrea Alaimo; Annalise Alaimo; Micky Bedell and her husband Tom; Ryan Bedell; and Kyle Bedell and his wife Katherine; two aunts: Marge Malanowski of Odessa, FL, and Nancy Sue Clark and her husband David of Carmel, IN; and many cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Rose Greenwood; her brother, William R. Greenwood Jr.; her parents-in-law, Barbara and Laurence Bedell; and her sister-in-law, Amy Bedell.
