Roger H. Dumont, 89, a longtime resident of Pepperell died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marie (Munson) Dumont. Roger and Marie celebrated 65 years of marriage in September, 2015.
He was born in Dracut (Collinsville) on April 6, 1926, the son of the late Elzear and Josephine (Pelletier) Dumont. He was a 1943 graduate of Lowell High School. Following graduation, he went on to serve in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Caribbean Islands. He served in active duty from 1943 to 1946 and in the Naval Reserves until 1950. He was a union carpenter and worked in the Boston area until his retirement in 1984. For the next 30 years, he and his wife spent their winters at their home in Spring Hill, FL.
Besides his wife, Marie, he is survived by two sons, James Dumont and William Dumont, both of Pepperell; eight daughters, Dr. Paula Williams of Hollis, NH, Mrs. Ann Patenaude of Dunstable, MA, Mrs. Joanne Johnson of Hollis, NH, Mrs. Kathryn Georges of Nashua, NH, Ms. Elizabeth Jefferson, of New Hampshire, Mrs. Jane McMillan of Orlando, FL, Ms. Lois Godin of Manchester, NH, and Ms. Faye Dumont Wilson of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Doris LaPorte and Irene Davis; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by five brothers, Armand Dumont, Gerald Dumont, Leo Dumont, Leonard Dumont and Lionel Dumont and three sisters, Lorraine Neault, Bernice Dumont and Rita Belley.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Parish, worshipping at St. Joseph Church, 28 Tarbell Street, Pepperell, MA 01463. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited and are asked to meet at the Church. There will be no calling hours. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pepperell with military honors.
