Rose Gilbert

Rose (Abisso) Gilbert, 87 of Groton, formerly of Littleton died peacefully, at Rivercourt Residence in Groton on October 11, 2015. She was born in Boston on July 15, 1928 daughter of the late Salvatore and Crocificia (Faraci) Abisso and was the wife of the late Herbert Gilbert who died in 2007. She grew up in East Boston and was a graduate of Girl's Trade School in Boston. She went into the garment business as a seamstress early on in life and later, working from home, made doll clothing. She established Littleton Pool Company with her husband, Herb, in the late 1960's and developed many close relationships with customers and they all referred to her as the Pool Lady. Rose was a member of St. Anne's Church and St. Anne's Sodality.
Her first love and priority was family, and rarely a day would go by that she wasn't visited by a family member. Rose was loved by all who knew her and appreciated her delicious Italian dishes and warm hospitality. For many years, she spent her winters of retirement in Punta Gorda, Florida always returning for the holidays to be with family.
She is survived by her son Timothy Gilbert and his wife LeeAnne of Littleton, daughters Joanne Deming of Fitchburg, and Cheryl Nelson of Littleton, grandchildren Michelle Deming, Joshua Deming, Ericka Maatman, Evan Nelson, Ryan Gilbert, Brittany Marchese, Courtney Gilbert and Brendan Gilbert, and great grandchildren Marin, Mackenzie, Matthew, Macie, and Jamie Claire. She is also survived by her brother Rocco Abisso of N. Andover and a sister Josephine Milano of Reading and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Abisso, and sisters Catina Buttiglieri and Marie Ferrandi.
Visiting hours will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St, Littleton on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne's Church 75 King St, Littleton on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. Please see www.badgerfuneral.com
