Sandra J. DeFreest

May 29, 1953 — December 6, 2022

Littleton, Massachusetts

Sandra (Corso) DeFreest, age 69 of Littleton, MA passed away peacefully on December 6, 2022 after a courageous battle with ALS. She was the wife of David DeFreest.

Sandy was born in Cambridge, MA on May 29, 1953. She was the daughter of Deolinda and the late Leonard Corso. She grew up in Belmont, MA and graduated from Belmont High School in 1971.

A long time resident of Littleton (44 years), Sandy was very active in the community and thoroughly enjoyed her years of driving a school bus in town. She was known for her creative Halloween costumes and for dressing up as “Sandy Clause” at Christmas time. In addition, Sandy had a career in banking, an at-home daycare, and later was in retail sales.

Sandy loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her beloved granddaughter, Abby. As many can attest to, Sandy was a prolific crocheter, amazing cook, and the best Nana to Abby and her “grand dogs.”  Spending time on Lake Winnisquam with her family and friends each summer was her favorite place to be. Sandy’s idea of a perfect day was sitting in the sunshine or floating in the lake with a pina colada in hand.

Sandy leaves behind her husband, David DeFreest of Littleton; daughter, Amanda DeFreest of Littleton; son, Jon DeFreest and his wife Jen and daughter, Abby of Dedham; her mother, Linda Corso of Belmont; her brother, Bobby Corso and his wife Kathleen of Winchester, her sister, Maria Corso and Brian McDonald of Watertown; her sister-in-law, Nancy Corso of Tyngsborough; her nieces and nephew, Steven, Lisa, Hannah and Lilly; and great niece, Charlotte. She also leaves behind her beloved friend and caretaker, Stephanie Cormier of Littleton.

She was predeceased by her father, Leonard Corso and her brother, Lenny Corso.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Sandy for a period of visitation on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton, MA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Sandy’s name to the ALS Association- Massachusetts Chapter at 200 Frieberg Parkway, Suite 1000, Westborough, MA 01581.
