Stephen D. Gallipeau, age 72, of Groton, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from a lengthy illness.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 9, 1951, he was the son of the late Robert B. and Mary Elizabeth (Baker) Gallipeau. Stephen graduated from Groton High School and, in 1973, enlisted in the U.S. Marines, where he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1977.
He worked for many years as a restaurant owner and, during his spare time, enjoyed water sports, skiing, reading, and motorcycling.
He is survived by his son Christopher Gallipeau of Mashpee, MA; and daughter Cassandra Wilson and her husband Paul from Sandwich, MA; and his grandchildren Ann Natividad and her husband Steven, Elizabeth Wilson, Jonathan Wilson, Peter Wilson, and Noah Wilson; and his great-grandchildren Charlotte Natividad and Leonidas Natividad; and his brother David Gallipeau from Henniker, NH, sister Susan Godsmark of W. Sussex, England and brother Erick Gallipeau of Nashua, NH; He is predeceased by his brother Rev. Mark Gallipeau.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Stephen for his funeral Mass on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. James Church, 13 St. James Ave., Groton. Burial with U.S. Marine military honors will be private at Groton Cemetery.
