Susan Elizabeth (Meyerholz) Shaw, age 69, of Groton, passed away unexpectedly on December 25, 2024. She was the loving wife of Dale M. Shaw.
Born in Danbury, CT, on December 17, 1955, Susan was the daughter of the late William and Irene (Lautenschlager) Meyerholz. She graduated from Littleton High School and later attended Bryant University, earning her degree with the Class of 1976.
On June 4, 1983, Susan and Dale married and soon settled in Groton, where together they raised their three children. A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Susan took immense pride in being present for her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She rarely missed an event and was always their biggest cheerleader. Susan found joy in spending many weekends and holidays on her beloved Cape Cod and the beaches of Florida. Upon retirement, Susan and Dale were in the process of moving to Hollis, NH to be closer to their family.
Susan worked for many years as a day care teacher where her warmth and love for children shone brightly. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with family, reading, relaxing at the beach and watching HGTV and the Food Network.
Susan is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Dale, and their children: Kimberly (Shaw) Young and her husband Scott; Harrison Shaw and his wife Kim; and Travis Shaw and his wife Hannah. She was a proud and loving grandmother to her five grandchildren: Morgan, Madelyn, and Dylan Young, and Weston and Lana Shaw. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Diane (Shaw) Puschell and her husband Chuck and nephews Matthew and Scott Puschell. Susan was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
