Susan L. Surprenant

Susan L Surprenant (Compagna) of Pepperell, MA passed away quietly on April 7, 2015 after a long battle with diabetes, kidney & heart disease; and she fought hard every step of the way.
Sue Surprenant had a blessed life. She was born on January 4, 1947 and was raised in Goffstown NH. Known as "Suzette" as a child, she was adopted at 6 days old into a loving family where her father worked for a local dairy company and her mother stayed home and babysat local kids. As a child she loved to be outside and her favorite memories were of her home on Shirley Hill Road in Goffstown, NH. She graduated from Goffstown High School.
She married shortly after, moved to Groton, MA where she had her first three children with her husband, John Surprenant. They moved to Pepperell, MA where she babysat the local kids, following in her mother's footsteps. She helped organize a local variety show. She was an amazing singer and loved to perform in shows and sing at karaoke nights. After having her fourth child, their family would take camping trips to Kennebunkport, Maine. Walks on the beach with her children, (and eventually her grandchildren) looking for seashells was a favorite summertime activity. As her children got older she got a job at Carter Realty in Pepperell, MA and eventually worked for Brookdale Real Estate for her late friend Larry Giles. Sue later moved on to work at NEBS in Groton, MA until her health declined.
Sue was an active member of the Pepperell Lions/Lioness Club for over 20 years, even serving as President for a period of time. Helping to organize their annual penny sale was a passion for her. She had many loves - God, Jesus (her co-pilot), her family, friends, shopping, playing cards; and quite possibly in that order. All who knew her can talk of her amazing storytelling ability, it was the kind that made you laugh so hard you would cry, or quite possibly, pee your pants.
She battled many illnesses for many years, just so she could spend more time with us. Rest in peace now Mom, sister, daughter, Auntie, friend. we love you.
Susan Surprenant is predeceased by her parents Leo and Blanche Compagna of Goffstown, NH; her brothers Andre Compagna and Ray Menard and her sister Jeanne Canarie.
She is survived by her ex-husband, and love of her life John Surprenant of Ashby, MA, their children Suzette Richard and her husband Chris of Pepperell, MA, Nancy Rank and her husband John of Milford, NH, Tina Compagna-Roy and her husband David Roy of Weare, NH, and John Surprenant and his wife Shannon of New Ipswich, NH. She had 11 grandchildren who all had a special place in her heart: Nick, Noelle, Tyler, Nathan, Leah, Brianna, Ryan, Tammi, Garrick, Elizabeth and Isabella. She is also survived by her sisters Doris Coleman of GA, Virginia Winslow and Carol Gagnon both of NH, as well as her brothers Robert Compagna of VT and Butch Menard of NH, along with many other beloved nieces, nephews and family. She also leaves behind her beloved dog and companion, Molly. Lastly Sue leaves behind her good friends Kevin Postel, Dale Calawa, and her dearest, closest friend, Debbie Pacheco.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 5-7pm with a Memorial service immediately following.
