Thaddeus Andrew Duda

Thaddeus "Ted" Andrew Duda, age 89, passed away from a short illness on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

A lifetime resident of Pepperell, he was born on April 6, 1926, the son of the late Albert and Anna (Wzorek) Duda. Ted was a graduate of Pepperell High School in 1944.

He worked in the Postal Service for 37 years before retiring as Postmaster in Groton, MA. Prior to becoming Postmaster he worked in 5 different Post Offices.

He also served in the US Navy as a Signalman on a merchant ship during World War II.

Ted was an avid sports Fan. College and Pro Football were his favorites sports. He loved playing basketball and was a player for the Pepperell Green Wave semi-pro basketball team. He also enjoyed casino gambling and playing cards.

Ted was very generous supporting charities for good causes that were meaningful to him.

He attended Our Lady of Grace Parish in Pepperell. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #3291 of Pepperell.

Ted is survived by his children, Edward Duda of Merriam, KS, Valerie Duda of Pepperell, MA and Andrea Duda of Nashua, NH as well as four grandchildren Justen Gardner of Dracut, MA, Alaina, Jessica and Elizabeth Chalmers of Pepperell, MA and his beloved dog Madeline "Maddie".

He was predeceased by brothers Joseph and Valentine Duda, sisters Veronica Kotilainen, Mary Mikos and Anna Kopec, wife Eleanor (Brown) Duda of 56 years, son Anthony Duda and daughter Linda (Duda) (Hottel) Crouch.

There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends please meet at Our Lady of Grace Parish, worshipping at St. Joseph Church, 28 Tarbell Street, Pepperell for a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2015. Burial with military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pepperell.
