Thomas Robert Carr

July 30, 1963 — May 25, 2025

Berlin, New Hampshire

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Thomas Robert Carr, affectionately known as "Schemer" by his family and friends.

Born on July 30, 1963, in Groton, Massachusetts, Thomas was a man whose joys in life were as simple as they were profound. He was funny, always ready with a quick-witted remark or a good-natured prank. He was loving, his affection for those around him as deep as the ocean. He was supportive, a rock that his family could lean on in trying times. He was adventurous, a man who loved the thrill of mountain biking, snowboarding, and skiing, and who relished the roar of engines and the excitement of a NASCAR race. As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation." For Thomas, his hobbies were not pastimes, but rather passions that invigorated his spirit and brought him joy.

Thomas was a man who found contentment in his work. As a janitor, his vocation may not have been glamorous, but it was one he approached with dedication and diligence. He understood that every job, no matter how seemingly small, contributes to the betterment of society.

Thomas was a loving husband to his wife, Holly, and a caring father to his son, Steven. He was supportive and reliable, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Despite battling with the disease of COPD/Bullous emphysema for over 11 years, Thomas faced his trials with courage and resilience, never losing his sense of humor or his love for life.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Holly, his son, Steven, and his brothers Todd, Roy, and Ed, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ann (Starr) Carr, his brother Alan, his niece Jessica, his sister Jamie, and his grandparents, Milton and Mary Starr, and his uncle Jon Starr.

To echo the words of Shakespeare, "All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances." Thomas has made his exit, but he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a lust for life that will be remembered by all who knew him. We invite those who knew Thomas to share their memories and upload photos to his memorial page. As we mourn his departure, let us also celebrate his life and the joy he brought into our lives.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School St., Groton, MA.
