Valery, "Val," K. Bykhovsky, PhD, age 88, of Boxborough, Massachusetts, and formerly of Moscow, Russia, passed away on November 29, 2025, at Emerson Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Margarita Bykhovsky (née Shapiro), also of Boxborough.

Born on June 20, 1937, in Moscow, Russia, he was the son of the late Konstantin Pavlinov and Miriam Bykhovskaya. Valery was raised and educated in Russia before immigrating to the United States in 1988.

Valery graduated from the Semenov Institute of Chemical Physics with an MS in theoretical and quantum chemistry, and from the L.D. Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics with a PhD in physics and applied mathematics. He worked for many years as an NRC senior associate for the US Air Force Research Laboratory, Boston. He dedicated his life to science, independently studying quantum and computational chemistry, molecular dynamics, and electronic structure.

Outside of his scientific endeavors, he enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and pets.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margarita; son, Dmitry, and his wife, Olga; 3 grandsons, Grisha, Yasha, and Daniel. He is predeceased by his son, Konstantin Bykhovsky, and his half-brother, Vladimir Pavlinov.

Services at South Cemetery, Boxborough, will be private.
