Virginia Esther Schmidt

Virginia Esther (May) Schmidt, 90, of Littleton died peacefully with family at her bedside on December 30, 2014 at Life Care Center of Acton. She was born in Claremont, NH on June 19, 1924, the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Hall) May. The wife of the late William J. Schmidt, married 56+ years. She grew up on a farm in Connecticut where she loved riding horses as a child and her love of animals began. She has made her home in Littleton for over 60 years and worked in retail at Filenes in Burlington for many years,
She and her husband raised German Shepherds, enjoyed many summers boating with adventures to Martha's Vineyard, Cape Ann and off the coast of Maine. They traveled to many tropical islands and snowmobiled in the winter with friends in the mountains of NH. She was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan. And, loved, loved, loved her best friend, Gracie, the cat!
Mrs. Schmidt is survived by 4 children, William J. Schmidt Jr. of Westford, MA, Carla Lee Valanciunas of Arizona, Frederick W. Schmidt of Haverhill, MA and Susan Damboorajian of Maine, 5 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton on Saturday Jan 3, 2015 from 1-2pm with a Service at 2pm. Burial immediately following at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton. Please see www.badgerfuneral.com
