Virginia F. Sprong

Virginia F. Sprong, age 100, of Littleton, MA, died on March 16, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Watertown, MA , daughter of the late George and Mildred Freethy and was the wife  of the late Lt .Col. Harry F. Sprong. . She was educated in the Watertown Schools, graduate of Bouve Boston School of Physical Education (now part of Northeastern) and Simmons College.


Taught in Peterboro, NH, and was a medical Secretary for two prominent Boston Surgeons. Harry and Virginia, lived in Needham, MA for four years. Purchased land in Littleton MA and built their beautiful home where she lived out her life with a loving caregiver.  After building the home in Littleton. She and Harry built a summer home on Bass River, West Dennis, and Cape Cod where they sailed, raced and cruised their 37 foot Tartan sloop.


She was a member and supporter  of the Congregational Church of Littleton, Mass Audubon Society, Littleton Conservation Trust , Littleton Country Gardeners and Irish Setter Club of N.E. (loving owner of ten “in all’ beautiful Irish Setters).   Also a supporter of Littleton Fire Department, the Council on aging and the Buddy Dog Society.


Donations may be made to any of the above


At her request there will be no services. Burial at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton
