Obituary

Dwayne David Banks (65), retired owner of Littleton’s Banks Automotive, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 15, 2026, while visiting with friends in New York.

Dwayne, known to all as Wayne, spent his working life with his father Earl building a successful automotive business that was a landmark in Littleton for over 60 years. He also worked a short time at Miller Automotive. 1979 graduate of Nashoba Valley Technical High School, Wayne would soon co-own Banks Automotive with Earl until his passing in 2020.

Wayne was a loving father, brother, and son; an uncle and great-uncle who brought life into everyday life. An avid hunter, he would spend many cold mornings in his tree stand at the Banks Camp located in Averill, Vermont, hunting with his grandfather, father, uncle, and friends while taking down multiple trophy bucks and usually doing all the cooking. Wayne enjoyed snowmobiling at the Averill Lake Banks Camp in Vermont, and especially the guys’ snowmobile trips in Rockwood, Maine.

Wayne’s life rotated around cars and trucks his entire life, which was influenced by his love for speed and competition. Wayne worked on Supermodifieds in the seventies, Pro-4 Modifieds in the eighties, and race trucks in the nineties before managing and acting as Crew Chief for Banks Motorsports Quarter Midget Racing teams for his son, Kyle, and nephew, Christoper. Wayne raced in Demo Derbies and most recently road course racing at Thompson Speedway driving a Viper with his friend Robert England. Most recently, Wayne turned a few wrenches assisting on a dirt modified car driven by Kyle Sheldon at the Lebanon Valley Speedway in New York.

Early in life, Wayne was an Eagle Scout of Troop 1 in Littleton. He was also a trusted board member of the Nashoba Tech Automotive Advisory Board and was a dedicated Littleton Firefighter for over 30 years. Wayne also served as an advisor for Post 1 Littleton Fire Explorers.

Wayne was loved by his hunting family, the snowmobiling crowd, his camping friends, and customers. He is survived by his beloved Labrador Retriever, Avery, his mother Ellen (Jordan) Banks of Littleton, his only son, Kyle Percy Banks, and Kyle’s girlfriend, Hope Pescatore, a brother, Kenneth Banks and his wife Denise, sister Patrice (Banks) O’Malley and her husband, Michael, all of Littleton, a sister Cynthia (Banks) Robinson and her husband Dana of Hudson, New Hampshire. Wayne also had two nephews, Christopher Banks and Cory Robinson, and two nieces, Kelly O’Malley and Brianna (Robinson) Anthony, as well as two great-nieces and one great-nephew. Wayne was close to his cousin, Mark Banks, and multiple lifelong childhood friends, including Bill Held and his wife, Jackie, and their daughter, Kenzie Sheldon, to whom he was like a second Dad to her.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Wayne on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton. His funeral service will be held Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11:00 am in the funeral home. His burial will be held privately.

Arrangements under the care of the Badger Funeral Home, a Life Celebration home, 347 King St., Littleton, MA. 978-486-3709, www.badgerfuneral.com.
