William G. Casey, Jr.

November 21, 1933 — March 22, 2025

Ayer, Massachusetts

William “Bill” Gerald Casey, Jr., 91, recently of Ayer, MA and formerly of Concord, MA then Brownsville, VT, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham, MA. Bill was born in Worcester, MA. He was the son of the late William Gerald and Mabel Irene (Small) Casey.

He served as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve Signal Corps from 1957 to 1965. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He started his career at Linde Chemical, then at Badger Corporation as an international project engineer. He completed his career as a Vice President at Raytheon’s International Division.

His wife and his large extended family were his greatest joy. He met his wife, Laurette, when they were both working in the office of a woolen mill near Montreal, Canada. He enjoyed “snowbirding” with his wife for many years, camping along the east coast, to spend time with his parents and his brother’s family in Florida, but always came North with their Florida Family to celebrate the holidays. They also enjoyed travelling to research family genealogy. He served on the board of Minute Man Arc and worked as a volunteer to refurbish houses for MMArc group homes.

Bill loved gardening, skiing, and camping with his family all over New England and Eastern Canada. He loved building things, whether it was a stonewall, remodeling a kitchen, adding an addition to the house, or making a dollhouse. He learned much of his carpentry and gardening skills from his grandparents and enjoyed teaching those skills to his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed pulling his grandchildren in a trailer behind his tractor in Vermont, then later, teaching them how to drive the tractor. He was a voracious reader and could answer all the difficult questions on Jeopardy. He was a consummate musician playing both Baritone Horn and Violin. He played Baritone Horn in the Concord Band for more than 25 years and performed in the Bicentennial celebrations of 1975 in Concord. In retirement, he took up bread-making and made incredible focaccia bread and cinnamon raisin bread (with and without the raisins to please his grandchildren).

Bill was the devoted husband of Laurette Celine (Leduc) Casey. They celebrated a blessed 67 years of marriage. Loving father of Michael (and his wife Meredith) Casey of Dunbarton, NH, Carole (and her husband Brock) Harris of New Canaan, CT, Brian Casey of Lexington, MA, and Lynne (and her husband Roy) Webster of Littleton, MA. Cherished grandfather of Courtney, Sean, Erin, Brock Jr., Emily, Catherine, Cameron, and Sarah and great-grandfather of Chloe and Madison. Bill will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He touched many lives, quietly teaching and leading by example.

Family and friends will gather to honor Bill for calling hours on Friday March, 28, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish - St. Anne Church, 75 King St., Littleton MA. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday March, 29, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. in Blessed Trinity Parish - St. Anne Church, Littleton. Burial to follow with U.S. Army Military Honors at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton.
