William Francis Dyer

August 12, 1945 — May 29, 2024

Nashua, New Hampshire

William Francis Dyer, age 78, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, with his daughters and grandchildren, Kevin and Paige, by his side.

William, or Bill as most knew him, was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol Ann (Barbuto). He leaves behind his daughters, Sheryl Ann and husband, Charles Jacoppo, of Charlotte, NC, and Michelle Turner and partner, Doug Burnes, of North Chelmsford, MA. He was a proud PA to Paul and his wife Kasey, Kevin and his wife Joely, Scott, and Paige Jacoppo, and Nicole and the late Dustin Turner. The proudest Great Pa to Parker and Paisley Jacoppo, and step-great-grandchildren Joseph and Anthony Medina; Loving brother to Richard J. Dyer, Diane, and Joe Berkeley, and Donna Murray;  beloved Brother in law to Rocco Jr. and Christine Barbuto, Jane and Stephen Brenner, AnnMarie and Daniel Walsh, Diane, and Jeffrey Lanzillo, the late Raymond Barbuto and lots of nieces and nephews. Bill fought a good fight for 35 years with congestive heart failure, but through it all, he always had a great attitude and smile.

Born in Allston, MA, to William F and Catherine (Jelly) Dyer, he graduated from Boston Tech in 1963. After High school, he signed up for the Navy Reserves and, in 1966, was called to serve his country, but before he deployed, he married his childhood sweetheart, Carol Ann. He served on the USS HUGH PURVIS DD-709 and was honorably discharged in 1968. Once back in the States, they stayed in Allston before moving to Kentucky for two years. They then returned to Massachusetts and settled in Tewksbury to raise their family, eventually retiring in Nashua, NH.

Bill had a successful career at places such as Polaroid, Wang and Bose. He had a passion for trains that began in childhood, and he loved fishing, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was being with his grandson Dustin and caring for him; they had a special bond. Bill and Carol loved wintering in Florida, where they had plenty of gaming partners and laughter.

Bill was loved by family and friends and will be dearly missed!
