Meyerholz of Littleton August 12, 2014 William Van Deursen Meyerholz Jr. died Tuesday at the Genesis Westford House in Westford . He was born in The Bronx, New York on July 1, 1917, son of the late William Van Deursen Meyerholz Sr. and Katherine (Rice) Meyerholz. He spent his early life in New York and was a graduate of Syracuse University College of Forestry. He served during WWII attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army.
He was married in 1944 to his late wife Irene (Lautenschlager) Meyerholz who died in August 1986. They had resided in New Jersey and Connecticut before resettling in Littleton in 1959. Mr. Meyerholz had been employed by Acorn Structures in Acton for many years, and upon his retirement in 1979, he was affiliated with Foster & Foster Realty as a sales agent.
As a resident of Littleton he was a member of the Congregational Church where he was also a Deacon. He also served as a commissioner on the Littleton Light and Water Department. Mr. Meyerholz enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening, watching his grandchildren play sports and trips to Cape Cod.
He is survived by his daughter Susan E. Shaw and her husband Dale of Groton; 3 grandchildren, Kimberly Young, Harrison Shaw and Travis Shaw and 1 great grandchild Morgan Young.
A funeral Service will be held Saturday 11 AM at the Congregational Church of Littleton, 330 King Street. Burial to follow in Westlawn Cemetery Littleton. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Congregational Church of Littleton 330 King St. Littleton Ma. 01460.
