William T. Peters, age 67, of Littleton, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2026.
William was born on October 3, 1958, in Saugus, Massachusetts, a son of the late William Peters and Barbara (Wilson) Lizotte.
William, known to many as Bill or “Wild Bill,” grew up in Marlborough and went on to serve in the United States Army as a cook for the barracks. Following his service, he worked as a line chef at the Sheraton Hotel in Boxborough, where he met his lifelong best friend, Carolyn Peters.
Following his time in the restaurant business, he began working at Cook Oil while attending the New England Fuel Institute to become a licensed oil burner technician. He then changed his focus and dedicated himself to his arborist business for over 40 years, where his strong work ethic and passion for his craft were evident to all who knew him. Trees were not just his work, but his life. He got his start working for Brian Stevenson, who helped give him the foundation to launch his own successful tree business, Bill Peters Tree Service. Over the years, he worked alongside many in the field and earned the nickname “Wild Bill,” a name that stuck with him throughout his life.
Bill was the kind of person you could hear before you saw—his voice was unmistakable, and anyone who knew him would recognize it instantly. He was the guy you hoped would pull over to help change your tire, tow you home, and make sure you got there safely. He never took a moment off from being selfless or wanting the best for everyone around him.
He loved being outdoors, whether camping, working, or spending time on the water. In his younger years, he was an incredible water skier and loved boating, always bringing energy and laughter wherever he went. He also enjoyed history, ice skating, hockey, and was always ready with a witty comeback to make people laugh.
William had a deep love for people, especially his family. He had a way of bringing light into the lives of others, and the world seemed to gravitate toward him. He will be remembered for his laughter, his kindness, and the genuine connections he made with everyone he met.
William leaves behind a loving family of people and friends who will continue to carry his light forward. Especially the tree community, Bursaw Gas and Oil, and his beloved truck #26.
He is survived by his children, Rachael, Ali, William, Ian, and Jacob, and his best friend, Carolyn Peters.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember William for a period of visitation on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Badger Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton, MA. Burial with United States Military Funeral Honors will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, 7 New Estate Rd., Littleton, MA.
