William Edward Rodenhizer

August 14, 1936 — February 28, 2025

Groton, Massachusetts

William Edward Rodenhizer, known fondly as Bill, was an adventurous soul who embraced life with both hands. Born on August 14, 1936, in Waltham, MA, Bill’s life was a testament to his generous spirit, humble heart, and boundless love for his family. A proud graduate of Newton High School and Stockbridge School at UMass Amherst, he spent his career as a Ground Control Manager for Eastern & United Airline, where his adventurous spirit found its home.

Bill’s love for adventure was only matched by his love for sports and the great outdoors. As an adult, he was a captivating pitcher in local town softball teams, and later, he found joy in the camaraderie of Eastern Airlines golf tournaments in Florida and other states. Regardless of the season, Bill could often be found in his vegetable garden, tending to his plants with the same loving care he showed his family. He also enjoyed the challenge of a good jigsaw puzzle, a testament to his patient and humble nature. Together with his wife, Judith, they shared numerous vacations and cruises, creating a lifetime of memories and stories.

Bill’s life was one filled with love, laughter, and generosity. While attending the Stockbridge School at UMass Amherst, Bill joined the Alpha Tau Gamma fraternity, where he made lifelong friendships with his fraternity brother John and others. He was a beloved member of the First Baptist Church in Littleton, MA, and his devotion to his family was awe-inspiring, having been married for over 40 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Rodenhizer (Maynard), his two sons David (Deborah) and John (Pamela), grandchildren Heidi (Chris) and Brett, great grandson Rowan, two step-sons David and Stephen (Jennifer), step grandchildren Vittoria and Luke. He also leaves behind his brother Bruce, nieces and nephew Elizabeth, Susan, and David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Frances Rodenhizer, son Eric, sister Elva DelPorto and his brother in law David DelPorto.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 4:00pm until 6:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Littleton, 461 King Street, Littleton, Massachusetts.
