William W. Johnson, age 85 and lifelong resident of Littleton, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Emerson Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Ruth Ann (Dodge) Johnson.
Born in Littleton, Massachusetts, on January 11, 1938, he was the son of the late William W. and Marguerite (Childs) Johnson.
Bill was raised in Littleton and graduated from Littleton High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in the First Armored Division stationed at Fort Hood in Texas. Bill and Ruth Ann married on October 14th, 1961, and remained in Littleton, where they raised their two children together.
Bill worked for 28 years as an automotive assembler at General Motors in Framingham. He retired in 1991. Upon retirement, Bill worked for 19 years at Shaker Hills Golf Course in Harvard, MA.
Bill was active in local Littleton athletics, coached Littleton Youth Hockey, and supported other town sports. He was always seen with a smile and greeted everyone with a positive attitude. Bill and Ruth Ann also spent many winters in Florida, where they enjoyed the wonderful weather and company of many friends. Bill was an avid NASCAR fan and motorcycle enthusiast. Wherever there was a dance floor, Bill and Ruth Ann could be found dancing the night away.
Along with his wife he is survived by his son Michael and wife Linda of Georgia and daughter Amy and husband Damon of Littleton. Bill was the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 2:00-6:00 pm at the Franco American Club, 55 W. Prescott St., Westford, MA.
